General Info

Located along the quiet coastal stretch of Sekinchan, Kim Kee Restaurant sits at Bagan, 115, Jalan Bagan 4, 45400 Sekinchan, Selangor, Malaysia. This well-known seafood restaurant has built a strong reputation among locals and tourists for serving honest, Teochew-style seafood in a relaxed, no-frills setting. The moment you arrive, there’s a comforting diner-style atmosphere that feels welcoming rather than polished, making it easy to focus on what truly matters-the food.

The menu leans heavily toward fresh seafood prepared with restraint and balance. One of the most talked-about highlights is the Salted Squid, also known as 鹽燒墨魚. It arrives tender and aromatic, with just enough seasoning to enhance the natural sweetness of the squid without overpowering it. Equally popular is the Teochew Steamed Fish, a dish that reflects the kitchen’s confidence. Lightly steamed and delicately seasoned, it showcases freshness first, which is exactly what diners expect when visiting a seafood-focused location like this.

Vegetable dishes are not treated as an afterthought here. The 清炒番薯叶, or stir-fried sweet potato leaves, brings a clean, earthy contrast to the richer seafood plates. It’s simple, well-executed, and rounds out the meal naturally. For those who enjoy bolder flavors, the Mantis Prawn with Dry Chili stands out. The dish delivers a satisfying balance of heat and aroma, making it a favorite small plate to share over dinner.

Kim Kee Restaurant is especially popular during dinner hours, and reservations are recommended, particularly on weekends. The space comfortably accommodates groups, making it a practical stop for families and travelers exploring Sekinchan. Alcohol is available, which pairs well with the seafood-heavy menu and adds to the laid-back evening dining experience.

Reviews often mention the consistent quality of the food and the straightforward service. There’s no attempt to be trendy or theatrical here. Instead, the restaurant focuses on delivering reliable flavors, generous portions, and a dining experience that feels genuine. For visitors looking to enjoy a classic seafood meal in Sekinchan, this location continues to earn its place as a dependable and satisfying choice.

What customers say?

“ Came to this place after reading the reviews. I came here looking for a light meal as I have enough of heavy meat and seafood for the past few days. I ordered the shark porridge and a few veggies. The porridge did not disappoint! Fresh shark meat with a flavourful yet light fish broth, rice was cooked nicely, not overly mushy, ala teochew style. Place is tucked behind the main street among the residential houses. Unpretentious and very home cooked. Best! ”

“ Seafood was good, aroma and taste just nice not too rich. Crab ok but it's small and less meat. Vege slighty below expectation due to overcooked. I'd to to try others if going to sekinchan again. ”

“ Hidden gems... Cooked by the aunty boss, taste real good, home cook (attach to house). The only noodle they serve is mihun and you won't regret. The steam prawn, the taste is good too, ginger+wine+egg... Just the prawn size little small. Sweet & sour pork crunchy serve with thick tomato sauce. Favorite. Seaweed soup, fish balls... Big portion, Q fishball. Big portion, reasonable price. Clean environment. ”

“ The Mr took us here after seeing reviews about this restaurant and we came here after checking out our hotel before heading back home. This delightful home-style restaurant feels like a warm embrace the moment you walk in. It’s truly a family-run operation in the best sense: the mother is in the kitchen, lovingly preparing each dish with authentic flavors and care, while her son—who also happens to be the owner—personally takes orders at every table with genuine politeness and charm. The atmosphere was welcoming, the food feels homemade, and you can sense the pride and heart behind every detail. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience that makes you feel like part of the family. The only downside of this restaurant is no aircond. It gets really hot. Despite having many hanging fans and huge standing fans, the heat makes it very uncomfortable while waiting and eating— almost like you’re sitting next to the oven. Still, if you can handle the warmth, the food and hospitality are definitely worth it. Portion was huge and the Claypot stingray and fishball soup with shark meat was fresh and yummy. Definitely revisit again for their other Claypot dishes. The crowd tend to get long during lunch time on weekends, not sure about dinner though. Total meal for 2 adult 1 kid was @ RM 95.00. ”

“ Two of us stuffed ourselves compared to our normal lunch meal size. 4 dishes in total...fish, clams, prawn and veggie with a pot of pu er added...less than RM100. Parking within the compound of the restaurant. ”
